Welcome to my blog!

I'm an acupuncturist, teacher, fertility specialist, patient centered advocate, mom, activist and more! This blog is a place for me to write down the things on my mind, the things I discuss over and over, and the things I find helpful, interesting, and inspiring all in the hope that someone else out there, maybe YOU, will find some of these things to be helpful, interesting and inspiring too. I love learning, I love sharing, and I am passionate about helping others lead more balanced, fertile, and healthy lives - while trying to do the same myself. So here goes... The Blogging Life...

A Poem on Taking Risks

Nine fabulous women met for our monthly book club meeting last night...only one slight change...we had no book to discuss! Instead we did a little bit of self discovery and reflection Oprah style. Photocopied pages from O magazine were passed out. They read:

Raymond Carver once wrote: "And did you get what/you wanted from this life, even so?" How would you answer that question at this point in your life? Have you exceeded the expectations you had as a young adult? Where would you like to make changes?

The rest of the page was covered in lines. And so, we wrote.

Some wrote slowly and thoughtfully, some frantically with purpose. Some just sat and stared at the empty page...alone in our thoughts. And then, came the conversation.

In honor of that conversation, I'd like to share this poem by Dawna Markova:

I Will Not Die An Unlived Life

I will not die an unlived life.
I will not live in fear
of falling or catching fire.
I choose to inhabit my days,
to allow my living to open me,
to make me less afraid,
more accessible;
to loosen my heart
until it becomes a wing,
a torch
a promise.
I choose to risk my significance,
to live so that which came to me as seed
goes to the next as blossom,
and that which came to me as blossom,
goes on as fruit.

How would you fill up your lines?
